Betty Barclay women’s fashion

For almost 60 years, the German clothing company Betty Barclay has been very successful in making casual fashion for women which is uncomplicated, feminine and full of esprit. Betty Barclay – sophisticated fashion for modern women

Company founder Max Berk began his career as a textile manufacturer in Mannheim in 1938 after acquiring a company. Soon after, the company switched to producing exclusively women’s clothing. The company was completely destroyed during World War II. After reconstruction in the Heidelberg area, Max Berk secured the European distribution license for the US Betty Barclay brand in 1955. The first women’s collection came out that same year. In 1968, the new company headquarters were built on 15,000 square meters in Nussloch near Heidelberg as a result of the addition of the Vera Mont and Gil Bret fashion brands. Four years later, Berk bought his core brand from the US-based Jonathan Logan Group.

The brand offers T-shirts, sweaters, blazers, skirts, dresses and more for women, which has become an expert in feminine cuts, colors and designs. With a worldwide presence in over 60 countries and more than 50 stores and shop-in-stores, the brand is at the forefront of fashion. The renowned consumer magazine “Freundin” recently awarded the brand the “Perfect Piece Award 2014” in the “Skirt” category.

A fashion company with a role model function

The second-generation family business participates in various charitable projects and maintains an active public relations policy. Betty Barclays sponsorship activities are comprehensive. The company is a host of high-profile domestic sports tournaments as well as an official supplier to major international sports competitions. Among other things, the Group was the official Olympic supplier in Sydney in 2000 and a partner of the BB Ladies Golf Tour in 2013. The company’s dedicated efforts are also rewarded internationally. In 1999, Betty Barclay was named “Brand of the Year”.

Fashionable competence, levels, zeitgeist and sovereignty – these are the key utterance with which the fashion house describes its corporate philosophy. The clothing is produced in the small town of Nussloch and is intended above all to be fun to wear. Around 80 percent of German women are familiar with this lifestyle brand.
