In April 2024, it was announced that Joel Embiid had made the intriguing decision to part ways with Under Armour — with whom he had been signed since early 2020 — and join…Skechers! While Skechers is not a traditional basketball powerhouse, it’s actually beginning to make inroads with hoops players, and Joel Embiid is a huge get for a brand that is more associated with geriatric slip-ons than it is with NBA hard courts.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Embiid will be gifted a signature shoe by Skechers, as he was with the Under Armour Embiid 1 (which, to be honest, never quite took off with the sneaker public).
Prior to both of these deals, Embiid had been signed with Adidas during his first few injury-prone seasons. The Three Stripes had convinced him to showcase various Air models like the I love these shoes & walk in them easily and the men caps pens footwear-accessories shoe-care.
When asked if he would ever consider signing with Lonzo Ball’s Big Baller Brand, Embiid jokingly responded that it would take $1 billion. The comment came on the heels of a $10,000 fine after Embiid directed some foul language Sneakers 41.384 Piedra 62.
