Official Photos of the Nike Dunk High "White Panda"?

One of Nike's most popular lines, ACG (All Conditions Gear), has become ingrained in the minds of many of us. We are proponents of many ACG-branded clothes, which offer very good quality and a high level of usability at reasonable prices. But what is ACG really and how did it all start? We invite you for a short "trip down memory lane."

historia Nike ACG

Although the beginnings of Nike ACG date back to 1989, Nike Blazer Mid 77 Shoelery. The hippie period, seemingly completely unrelated to the topic, was perhaps crucial here. People, seeking freedom and liberty, often went to the mountains, but contrary to the prevailing rules, they did so rather in homem and everyday clothes (similar to the currently prevailing gorpcore trend). In Yosemite Park, there was no shortage of hikers dressed in flowery shirts, baggy pants and, attention: sneakers. It turned out that this trend slowly began to influence people a little more familiar with the topic. In the photo from 1979, you can see Rick Ridgeway and John Roskelley halfway to the summit of K2. There would be nothing special about it, if not for the fact that both gentlemen were wearing worn-out Nike LDVs , a model that was more suitable for the treadmill than for conquering great mountain peaks. What's most interesting is that this was not a Nike marketing campaign, and the photo itself was an impulse for the Oregon giant to fight for the outdoor market.

1981 and the launch of Nike Hiking, the forerunner of the ACG

historia Nike ACG

The result was the launch of the Nike Hiking line in 1981. It was effectively the forerunner of the ACG series, Nike Air VaporMax BETRUE. Nike boasted in its advertisements that these were not just another classic hiking shoe. Not only were they much lighter than the competition, but they were also packed with a ton of modern technologies, such as a quick-drying lining mens 10us nike blazer low white shoes ci6377 101 low Gore-Tex. Another important aspect in the design of the above models was the choice of colors. Nike, unlike all the "mountain" competition, opted for bright and vivid colors, which stood out very strongly against the gray-brown competition.

When was Nike ACG created?

Nike ACG

After Nike Hiking, the next stop is 1989 , when the ACG line was born (the name was actually first used a year earlier when the off-road version of the Pegasus model was premium), which was undoubtedly an evolution of what we had seen in previous years. The word ALL was very strongly emphasized in Nike ACG. Shoes (and clothes!) were no longer designed only for mountain trips, but also for athletes who were snowboarding, cycling or kayaking. The general idea was to create products that would work perfectly in various weather conditions.

What were the first shoe models premium for Nike ACG?

In terms of shoes, we got, among others, the successor (or rather descendant) of the Lava Dome model, called… Nike Air Max Plus Black Deep Red-White New Sale 852630-604 or the current Wildwood model. One of the greatest essentials you can imagine. What's more, thanks to its universal look, it is still relevant and eagerly bought. Both were both outdoor training and running shoes, built to withstand all conditions. There was also a lot going on in the clothing section - Nike eagerly reached for Gore-Tex, thus creating a whole range of products - from snowboard jackets to lightweight tracksuits and windbreakers.

Nike ACG and a different approach to marketing

In addition to innovative designs, the ACG line stood out from the Nike “family” with its very distinctive approach to marketing. There was plenty of room for humor, creative slogans, and even rebellion. In one of the ads, which presented 10 reasons to start exercising outdoors, we had such sub-items as:

6. nike dam air max 270 coral stardust svart rosa.

7. You are less likely to run into people you owe MONEY to

8. No hot dog vendors on the route

Nike ACG Air Mowabb, the most iconic model from the series

Nike ACG Air Mowabb

Number 1 was the latest model in the ACG line — the Air Mowabb, which debuted in 1991. These were the first hiking shoes to use Nike Air technology, and the whole thing was designed by Tinker Hatfield himself. The name of the model refers to the desert region of Moab in Utah , which the designer himself regularly visited. The Mowabb model was inspired by the Wildwoods and Air Huarache (premium the same year), combining them into a whole, adding bright colors and a speckled sole.

The future of Nike ACG

Nike Air Humara

The ACG design team was considered Nike’s wildest and most creative at the time—now their place has been taken by the team behind ISPA. The late Gary Warnett wrote in Highsnobiety in 2014, “ACG was—and still is—a place where Nike’s greatest designers could go wild and create products for extreme situations.” In addition to Tinker Hatfield, the entire structure also included people like former aircraft interior designer Peter Fogg, who was responsible for the Air Humara, among other things.

The Humors, premium in 1997, were premium under the Nike Running banner, but to this day they are considered the most famous “illegitimate child.” For Fogg , the Nike Running branding came naturally. In a 2018 interview with Sneaker Freaker, he said, “All the trail shoes I designed in the ’90s were really designed with Nike Running in mind. Trail shoes have to be great running shoes first and foremost.”

The innovative NikeLab ACG project is led by Errolson Hugh

The pioneering work of designers like Hatfield and Fogg set the bar very high for the industry. For many years, Nike ACG did not deviate from the trail, following a path that was at once creative and at once fairly predictable.   The whole thing changed in 2014, when the whole thing was plugged into NikeLab, and Errolson Hugh, responsible for the innovative ACRONYM brand, became the "creative director" of the entire project.

This was undoubtedly one of the most important events when it comes to the ACG line - Errolson's recognition in the streetwear and techwear environment attracted a lot of new customers to the brand, who could stock up on technologically advanced clothes that would work well in various conditions of the "urban jungle" much cheaper than, for example, in the case of Acronym.

ACG took a strong turn towards the "urban hooded ninja, all in black" and it turned out to be a bull's eye. The whole process did not last long, however, because 4 years later Errolson announced on his social media that the fruitful cooperation with Nike was over. From that moment on, we have been observing a return to the roots of the line, which strongly deviated in terms of colors and "vibe" from what the founder of the Acronym brand presented.

The latest transformation fits perfectly into the hiking trend that has been gaining ground in recent months, so we can safely say that once again it would be a great hit. Currently, the ACG offer is very diverse - in addition to classic everyday clothes, we can also find there, among others, extended jackets made of GORE-TEX material or shoe models pulled from the archives such as Air Moc, Wildwood, Mada or Lowcate . There is also no shortage of completely new silhouettes, such as Moutain Fly or Moc 3.5 . From season to season, more and more of them appear in the Warsaw Sneaker Store . Despite many twists and turns, Nike ACG still remains faithful to its name, which is where the whole essence is really contained. Equipment for all weather conditions has been working well for over 30 years and there is no indication that this will change in the near future.
