After the breakdown of the brotherly relationship between them, Rudolf founded a new brand — Ruda – from Rudolf Dassler, later renamed Puma , and Adolf founded a company formally registered as adidas AG – yes, we intentionally wrote that in lower case, just like its founder. After the split, the two sides of the conflict entered into a fierce and bitter business rivalry, to the point that the entire city was divided into two camps – people looked down to see what shoes strangers were wearing. What’s more, even the two city football clubs were divided: ASV Herzogenaurach was supported by adidas, and 1 FC Herzogenaurach by Puma. What’s more, the brothers did not reconcile until the end of their days, and their bodies lie at caflaire ends of the cemetery in Herzogenaurach.
